Hospital Leadership

BENTLEY GOES HERE
Kevin Kast It’s been my blessing to be in the healing profession for over thirty years in various leadership roles. I am especially proud to be one of the current stewards of this remarkable caring ministry. Our employees care for one another, and for our patients, as if they were Christ, in the face of another. Our goal is to offer only exceptional services, technologies and facilities to our patients while assuring Gods healing presence in all we do.

Chief Nurse Executive

I’ve accomplished my professional growth one step at a time, one role at a time, adding education and experience along the way. I started my nursing career at St. Mary’s in 1979 as an LPN. Over the past 27 years, I’ve been blessed to work with many wonderful nurses and mentors. I’m thrilled to have returned to St. Mary’s Hospital in the role of Assistant Administrator and Chief Nurse Executive.

I am a nurse. I am by heart, mind and profession a patient advocate. Each and every human life is a precious gift. Regardless of where our patients are in their lives, be it a time of birth, of growth, of maturity, of healing, or the precious moments as the human body ceases to function, we are here to be of service, to meet their needs, to offer support and share our skills and gifts. We make a difference. We are St. Mary’s Hospital.

I joined the administrative team of  St. Mary’s Hospital in September of 2005 and am particularly excited to be associated with a hospital that has such a highly energized workforce, medical staff and governing board.  I’m a graduate of the University of Florida with over thirteen years of experience in all aspects of healthcare finance.  Prior to relocating, I served as Chief Financial Officer of a for-profit community hospital in Connecticut.  In addition to having an excellent professional fit with St. Mary's Hospital, our relocation was an opportunity to come home for my wife Kim, who grew up in Illinois. Kim and I are enjoying Decatur and the Midwest immensely along with our three children.   I am also on the Children’s Museum Board and serve on the President’s Council for the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce.

For more than 30 years I have been privileged to work at St. Mary’s in a role that supports those people providing direct care for our patients.  Initially, as Human Resources Director, I helped establish the structure and process for recruiting, compensating and providing continuing education for our staff.

The past several years I have used my Human Resources experience to recruit physicians and assist them in establishing their new medical practice.  It is very satisfying to help bring a physician to the community and to have a part in the practice’s growth and success.

Glen Griesheim I began my career in healthcare while I was in high school. During this period I volunteered in the late 1980’s for a local rural ambulance agency. I have been working for the Hospital Sisters Health System since 1990 and here at St. Mary’s Hospital since 1999. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunities to participate in this health care ministry in the past, and am tremendously excited about our future. I have many years of experience providing direct patient care and feel this experience has engrained the support of our core values; respect, care, joy, and competence. I truly believe that the dedicated employees of St. Mary’s have made the greatest contribution to our past and future.

Kelly Hazenfield I was hired as the Community Relations Director for St. Mary’s Hospital in January of 2006.  I oversee marketing, community education and events, the Friends of St. Mary’s Foundation, the Auxiliary and the gift shop.  St. Mary’s Hospital makes a positive impact in our community every day.  Our core values – care, competence, joy and respect – are not just words.  They have true meaning throughout the hospital.   We have an outstanding team in Community Relations, and we look forward to sharing the message and stories of St. Mary’s Hospital with you!

Human Resources Director

I was thrilled to return to St. Mary's Hospital in 2005 as Director, Human Resources - - I started my human resources career at St. Mary's during a high school internship. That experience influenced me to major in Personnel Management at Millikin University. After graduation I worked in human resources at two Decatur companies during the past 24 years.

Since joining St. Mary's, I've experienced the total team effort that our staff puts forth every day to contribute to our healing ministry. St. Mary's is a special place; a caring place, and each employee plays a unique role in carrying on the Sisters' rich tradition of healing and compassion. Our staff contributes to our healing ministry by providing excellent care and better health to our patients, support and comfort to their families and friends, and excellent health care resources to this great community we serve. Our continued success is accomplished through the efforts of our staff who allow the hospital's values of respect, care, joy, and competence to guide them as they provide care to patients and interact with fellow employees. We are St. Mary's Hospital - - A Choice You Can Believe In.
