St. Mary's Hospital - 3rd Floor
The miracle of childbirth is easily the most wonderful of all human experiences. It can also be the most physical, the most emotional, and the most spiritual.
St. Mary’s takes pride in its family-oriented Obstetrics Unit and comfortable LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Post Partum) rooms. OB staff will make every effort to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one. For added piece of mind, all infants born at St. Mary’s are protected by an infant security system, which prevents children from being removed from the unit by unauthorized individuals.
Bed, Breakfast & Baby
In response to the shortened recovery time allowed by insurance companies, St. Mary's offers a program called Bed, Breakfast and Baby, which gives you the extra time to learn about your newborn with nurses nearby to assist you with breastfeeding and baby care. We invite you to stay with us for an extra night following your discharge for only $25.00. To learn more about Bed, Breakfast & Baby or to obtain a gift certificate, please call 464-2334.
Prenatal Classes
A series of prenatal classes is offered year-round, free of charge. Topics include labor and delivery, C-sections, care of the infant, breastfeeding, and how to cope with sibling issues, among others. All classes are held at 7 p.m. in the hospital Forum on the Ground Floor unless otherwise noted. A Touch of Luxury
Beginning in April 2008, specialty gift items and celebratory dinners will be available to parents welcoming a new arrival at St. Mary’s.
Options include a tote with Gilchrist and Soames spa products, including all the basics needed during this time away from home. Another option is a luxurious bathrobe and slippers, a comforting plush blanket for Mom and a blanket for baby, too.
Another package allows new parents to design a celebratory dinner to be served in Mom’s private room after the baby’s arrival. Choices include an elegant dinner with a special menu and recipes developed by St. Mary’s Food and Nutrition Services, including a main entrée, appetizers, salad, side dishes and dessert, all served on a special room service cart with linens and attractive place settings. A less expensive option allows Mom and a guest to order off the normal room service menu at no extra cost for the meal, but for a minimal charge, Food Service will “dress it up” with linens, dishes and fancier place settings.
Amenities packages can be pre-purchased as gifts for new parents and everything will be ready and waiting when they arrive. Or patients can opt into the program themselves when they check in.
Another key feature for first time moms or parents who enjoy regular updates on their pregnancy or child’s development is already available; the St. Mary’s Touch of Luxury Parent Newsletter can be subscribed to on-line through this website.
